The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine may schedule elections of Kyiv mayor and members of the City Council for the summer of this year, speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
The speaker noted that "there are several bills in the committee on local government. They will be reviewed in the near future and the proposals will be introduced".
Rybak also predicts that the Kyiv elections can be scheduled for the middle of summer.
"In May, the powers of Kyiv deputies run out. So, the elections may be held in the end of the first half year - the beginning of the second," the official said.
