In the first half of 2013, volunteers will conduct unannounced monitoring visits to reception centers for children, head of the Criminal Police Office for Children of Internal Ministry of Ukraine Oleksiy Lazarenko said, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Documents were developed to help the representatives of monitoring groups, which include representatives of public organizations. Interior Ministry will not take part in this process," he noted.

According to the press service, the concept of human rights monitoring in reception centers was developed in response to the decree of the President of Ukraine "On the concept of criminal justice development regarding minors in Ukraine."

According to Lazarenko, the main job is not to punish the police officers, but to identify mistakes, which lead to the fact that our police can violate the children rights."

As of today, there are 18 reception centers for children in Ukraine, and four of them are transit (Kyiv, Kharkiv, Simferopol and Odesa).
