Foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara states that Kyiv has not recognized $ 7 billion billed by "Gazprom" as a penalty for shortage of gas import in 2012.
"As far as I understand, while I am in working visits, the Ukrainian government has not accepted $ 7 billion bill as the state debt of Ukraine," he said in Brussels in an interview to Ukrainian journalists.
The minister expressed confidence that any problematic issues between the two strategic partners - Russia and Ukraine - should be resolved through negotiations.
"If they are not resolved in talks, the contract with Russia on gas supplies provides other procedures, which may also be used," Kozhara said.
