Cabinet is ready to take drastic measures to improve the light industry of Ukraine,
Prime Minister Mykola Azarov during the session of the Council of Entrepreneurs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Our market is full of imported goods. In my opinion, we should take drastic measures. The representatives of the Ukrainian Association of Employers of Light Industry, the Council of Entrepreneurs, the Economy Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Incomes and Fees Ministry should develop common proposals. We have already reached rock bottom.

Why does a country with a population of 45 million people produce nothing in light industry? We all have imported suits, shirts, shoes. It is the time to take drastic measures," the Prime Minister said.

According to the head of the government, the domestic production of light industry takes only 1% of the consumer market of Ukraine. Back in 2010 it was decided to release this branch of industry from income tax. However, there have been no "leap up" in the industry.

"To address the problem, we need also check the quality of the imported goods and not let import low-quality consumer goods in Ukraine," Azarov summed up.
