Ukraine has about half a million units of unregistered clandestine weapons, which were redesigned from starting or traumatic, chairman of the supervisory board of the Ukrainian gun owners association Heorhiy Uchaikin told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to him, this situation happened due to the fact that Ukraine does not have a law on regulation, purchasing, carrying and use of short-barreled rifle by ordinary people.
"The existence of law on legal trade of firearms is a democratic freedom, which forms a potential security of the society. A person should have a right to choose, but the rules have to be tough and equal for everyone," he noted.
"Ukraine has about 350 thousand units of officially registered traumatic weapons, but the law enforcement system does not have an opportunity to identify the weapon after its use," he said.
Uchaikin stressed that it is necessary to create a new law that would allow the Ukrainians to buy and use legally short-barreled rifles.
