Statements of vice-speaker of the Russian Parliament, the LDPR Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky against Ukraine do not benefit to the development of friendly Ukrainian-Russian relations, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We hope that Zhirinovsky’s statements are his personal opinion. Currently, he does not represent the Parliament’s chairmanship, he is the faction leader. His position has been long known, and of course Kyiv considers that all his statements made yesterday do not promote the development of friendly bilateral relations," Perebyinis said.

Responding to a question whether Ukraine can declare Zhirinovsky persona non grata, he said that this issue is outside the scope of the Ministry.

Yesterday, Zhirinovsky said that Ukraine should "move not in the EU, where it is not waited for, but seek rapprochement with Russia".
