Ukraine always paid and will pay for the consumed Russian gas, foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara told journalists, ForUm correspondent reports.
The minister noted that Russia billed Ukraine not because of direct damages but because of regulations in the contract of 2009 on penalty for gas shortage.
The minister stressed that the restructuring of debt is just one of the possible option. "There are other procedures that are provided by the contract," he explained.
As for the possible consideration of this issue in the Stockholm Arbitration, Kozhara hopes the gas issue to be solved without trial. "I believe that friends should first of all use out-of-court tools," Kozhara summed up.
