During the meeting with a delegation from the German Ferrostaal company in Kyiv on January 28, Mykola Azarov thanked Germany for its support for the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transportation system, the PM’s press office informs.

The Prime Minister noted that the modernization of gas transportation system, which Ukraine has started with Deutsche Bank and Ferrostaal is a promising project. He assured that the Ukrainian government will back up the implementation of the project.

Azarov said that domestic GTS is the most reliable and cheapest route for hydrocarbons transporting to Europe. In addition, Ukraine also has underground gas storage facility, allowing to increase the supplies of energy to Europe within a period of peak winter loads.

"Ukraine is interested in natural gas supplies from Europe, which is now considerably cheaper than Russian gas. – PM said. - We can get gas from Europe under milder conditions, in which there is no demand for "take or pay" and no penalties for arrears of gas".

The head of the government said that Ukraine has already had a positive experience of purchasing natural gas in the EU.
