Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak hopes to intensify inter-parliamentary relations with Japan.

Rybak is sure that active inter-parliamentary ties will deepen bilateral political dialogue and promote the development of relations between Ukraine and Japan in all fields.

"I am convinced that these relations can best contribute to the deepening of the political dialogue and promote the development of the Ukrainian-Japanese relations," he said today during the meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Mr. Toichi Sakata.

Ukrainian speaker expressed his opinion that parliamentary groups of friendship apart from visits of heads of the Parliaments are important for the development of bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
In turn, the ambassador said that Ukraine is an important partner for Japan. He praised the current level of bilateral cooperation in political, economic, scientific, educational and cultural spheres.

Mr. Sakata expressed hope for further strengthening and deepening of the inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The ambassador also said that Ukraine is continuously engaged in democratic reforms, and wished success to our state in the negotiations on conclusion of the Association Agreement with the EU.
