Gas production on Yuzovska deposit (7,886 square kilometers, located in Kharkiv and Donetsk regions) in 2018 could reach 20 billion cubic meters (bcm), Energy and Coal Industry Minister of Ukraine Eduard Stavytsky has said, Interfax informs.

"Now we can only forecast. Under the optimistic scenario of Shell, this is about 20 billion cubic meters per year. Under the pessimistic scenario, at least 7-8 billion cubic meters a year," he told reporters, announcing the signing of a production sharing agreement (PSA) in Davos on Thursday.
According to the minister, if the volume of gas produced on Yuzovska deposit is at the level of the optimistic scenario, "this will fully resolve the problem of gas shortage, which is observed in Ukraine, and we will even have a surplus." The minister noted that this figure could be reached in five years.
Stavytsky believes that the economic benefit for Ukraine from the signing of the agreement will amount to $10 billion.

A production sharing agreement between Ukraine, Shell and Nadra Yuzovska LLC for the development of Yuzovska deposit is to be signed in Davos on Thursday afternoon with the participation of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
