OSCE chairman, foreign minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara hopes that a direct and constructive dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol will be continued, he said during his meeting with Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk and the heads of representative and executive bodies in Tiraspol.

According to him, Ukraine, as a mediator and guarantor, as well as the nearest neighbor, identified the Transnistrian conflict settlement as one of the top priorities of its presidency in the OSCE in 2013. He noted the need to provide additional impetus to the negotiation process in the "5 +2" format (Moldova, Transnistria, Russia, Ukraine, OSCE, EU and US).

Kozhara called for Ukraine's support for the policy of concessions from both Tiraspol and Chisinau to effectively address the issues of socio-economic nature, stressing that Ukraine cares about ethnic Ukrainians living in the Transnistrian region, many of whom are citizens of Ukraine.
