Ukraine’s purpose is to join the family of European nations, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said during the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Unity and Liberty Day, ForUm correspondent reports.
"We have set ourselves the task to enter the family of European nations. European choice means a choice of democratic values, economic freedom and social standards," he said.
Thus, in his view, good and brotherly relations with our neighbors, as well as prudent and consistent policy of cooperation with strategic partners can help us to reach the stability and prosperity in Ukraine.
"I am convinced that this year we will be one step closer to this goal. At the same time, we will blaze our own path and consistently defend our interests," Yanukovych stressed.
