The government keeps on monitoring flu developing in Ukraine: there is sufficient amount of necessary medicines and vaccines. At the Cabinet’s meeting on January 21, healthcare minister Raisa Bohatyriova reported on the readiness of the healthcare system to the possible fall-winter epidemic outbreak of influenza and ARVI, the Cabinet’s press office informs.
Now the incidence of influenza and ARVI exceeds epidemic threshold in no region.
Given the forecast of the WHO and the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, the incidence of influenza and ARVI in the 2012-2013 epidemic season in Ukraine will be characterized by compatible circulation of three flu viruses. All the expected strains were included in the current seasonal flu vaccine. Now there are five types of vaccines. The total number is more than half a thousand doses.
The total number of anti-influenza drugs is also sufficient: more than 21 million packages.
The Healthcare Ministry instructed the territorial authorities to carry out the inspection of compliance with sanitary and anti-epidemic regime in health facilities and pharmacies, to pay special attention to the availability of stocks of essential drugs, disinfectants, antiseptics and personal protective equipments, etc.
