Foreign minister of Ukraine, the OSCE chairman Leonid Kozhara met with heads of OSCE field offices, the Foreign Ministry press service informs.

The foreign minister noted the importance of the OSCE field missions, which work is aimed at preventing and resolving conflict, promoting democratic reforms and the rule of law.

"During its OSCE chairmanship, Ukraine will support efforts to increase the effectiveness of the OSCE field offices," Kozhara said.

He also noted the need to strengthen the institutional capacity of the OSCE field offices to take timely and effective measures to prevent conflict situations arising in their areas of responsibility, to improve interaction with the host states in the implementation of projects and activities in accordance with their needs and interests.

Minister paid considerable attention to the settlement of the protracted conflicts within the OSCE area.

In this context Kozhara highlighted the need for re-launching "5 +2" negotiations, aimed at settling Transnistrian conflict. "In the coming days I plan to visit Chisinau and Tiraspol to give an impetus to the process," the OSCE chairman added.
