With the entry into force of the law on emergency medical aid, an ambulance will come to patients within 10 minutes, deputy healthcare minister Oleksandr Tolstanov told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"With the establishment of regional centers for emergency medical assistance, the arrival of ambulances will be speed up to 8-10 minutes in the city and up to 20-22 minutes in the villages," he said.

He also recalled that last year the Healthcare Ministry purchased 216 ambulances of "B" and "C" types for the pilot Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Kyiv regions.

The official hopes that this reform will help reduce the number of unnecessary ambulance calls. He noted that the total transformation of the industry to be completed until 2012.

As a reminder, the law on emergency medical aid has been effective since January 1, 2013 in Ukraine.
