Citizens, affected by the delay or cancellation of the Aerosvit flights, are advised to apply to court and claim compensation for material and moral damages, chairman of the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection Serhiy Orekhov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"According to the new Law on air transport, people shall receive serious compensations. Citizens need to know their rights and apply to the courts," he said, adding that compensation could reach 250-350 euros per day.

Orekhov said that the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection does not deal with such issues, since after the reorganization of the department the issues of air, rail and other transportation fall within the jurisdiction of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine.
