Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has instructed the State Inspectorate of Technogenic Security to check for the compliance with safety rules and the working condition of heating systems in educational institutions and kindergartens.

The head of government gave this instruction at a government meeting on Monday, the government's press service reported, Interfax informs.

The reason for these unscheduled checks is an incident that occurred on January 13 in Zhytomyr region, where an explosion hit a boiler house in a kindergarten at night.

According to preliminary results of checks, a number of organizational shortcomings that indirectly led to this situation have already been detected.

"A cold snap is yet to come according to the weather forecasts. Therefore, accordingly, the load on the heating system will grow. The technical state of boiler houses must be reliable," Azarov said.

He also stressed the need to address this issue as responsibly as possible, as an improper approach to the inspection of systems during their commissioning and their certification for safety rules could be the cause of serious accidents.
