Jan14, defense minister of Ukraine Pavlo Lebedev met with member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, defense minister General Liang Guanglie, the Defense Ministry press service informs.
The parties held consultations and discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation.
"We are interested in effective cooperation. Ukrainian President - Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych pays special attention to the development of a constructive partnership between our two countries. We carry out this task," head of the Defense Ministry said.
Defense minister of the People's Republic of China General Liang Guanglie noted high potential and broad prospects for cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The cooperation between our countries in the defense sector is developing steadily. We actively share experiences in training troops, conducting military-technical cooperation, cooperate in the field of military education. Since 1999, the military educational institutions of Ukraine have trained over 200 Chinese officers. I am confident that our meeting opens a new chapter in the development of bilateral cooperation," Mr. Guanglie said.
