MPs postpone passing European integration resolution till February

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine postponed consideration of Ukraine's European integration course, ForUm correspondent reports.

In particular, the agenda included three alternative draft resolutions, authored by head of the Fatherland faction Arseniy Yatsenyuk, head of the UDAR faction Vitali Klitschko and MP from the party of Regions Serhiy Tihipko.

In course of discussion, head of the Parliament’s committee on European integration Hryhoriy Nemyria suggested not voting for all decisions separately, but instructing the committee to work out the common project and submit it to vote before the EU-Ukraine Summit.

Individual MP Petro Poroshenko supported the proposal of Hryhoriy Nemyria. Tihipko added that the resolution on European integration should not be politicized.

Speaker Volodymyr Rybak offered to re-read the draft resolution in the first reading in the committee to work out a unified coherent document, which must be passed in the first week of the Parliament’s second plenary session.

Such a proposal was supported by 348 MPs. The Party of Regions gave 188 votes, the Fatherland Union - 76 votes, the UDAR party - 35, the Freedom Union - 36, individual MPs - 13, the Communists did not vote.
