On Thursday, January 10, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has met with leading academic historians, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Petro Tolochko and director of the Institute of National Remembrance Valeriy Soldatenko to discuss a number of topical issues, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

In particular, the issues on preparations for the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kievan Rus, financial support for the Kyiv Antiquity scientific journal and providing real protection of the historic monuments were discussed during the meeting.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government supports the preservation of cultural and historical heritage of our state.

He also noted that the citizens should learn historical facts without distortion, on the basis of documentary evidence.

Azarov stressed that it is necessary to promote historical knowledge in the media, including television.
