Epidemiologists do not rule out return of virus strain A (H1N1), more commonly known as swine flu, to Ukraine. However, there is no threat of an outbreak and reasons to worry, the KCSA press service informs, citing report of the Gromashevsky Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases of Ukraine.

However, according to doctors, the new epidemic season 2012-2013 will be characterized with a compatible circulation of influenza A (H3N2), namely a new strain called Victoria, which has not yet revealed its epidemiological characteristics in our country, and new for Ukraine strain of influenza virus (WI).

Doctors say that preparation for the epidemic season requires public vigilance and timely vaccination, rapid detection of the disease, isolation of patients and their effective treatment.
 
"People with chronic diseases (respiratory and cardiovascular systems, kidney, metabolism), people aged over 60, pregnant women, and those who are in contact with a lot of people are under threat," the report says.

Physicians remind that the main symptoms of influenza is a sudden fever, cough (usually dry), headache, sore throat, muscle and joint pain, severe malaise, runny nose.
