In Ukraine, 133 people died due to hypothermia, vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul said during a teleconference with the regions of Ukraine, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

"Special warming centers were opened in all cities and districts. However, 133 people died of hyperthermia in Ukraine, and the vast majority do not have a permanent residence," the official stressed.

"We need to practice social patrols to solve this problem," Vilkul said and instructed the leaders of regions and the heads of relevant ministries to organize such patrols.

The patrol team should include a law enforcement official or employee of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergencies, as well as a doctor and a social worker. Patrol vehicles must be provided as well.
