First deputy speaker: First day of Parliament’s work slightly spoiled its image

The Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation has quickly switched to constructive work, first deputy speaker Ihor Kaletnik said in interview.

"I think that the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation shows a good example, with the exception of the first day. Then there were some acts of colleagues, who spoiled the image component of the new Parliament in the eyes of the Ukrainian people and the world community," he said.

According to Kaletnik, if to analyze start of work of the Parliaments in 2002, 2006 and 2007, the current Parliament has quickly switched to constructive work. "The leadership of the Parliament and membership of parliamentary committees were elected in short period of time. Why did not we start legislating? The answer is simple. First, it was necessary to form committees. After all, no bill can not be brought up for consideration in the session hall if the deputies have not previously assessed it in the committees," Kaletnik explained.
