Providing Ukrainians with quality medicines is the priority of the Ukrainian government, vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Kostyantyn Hryshchenko said during the meeting on control over drugs imported to Ukraine.

As Hryshchenko’s press service informs, the meeting was attended by leaders and representatives of public authorities, in particular, the healthcare minister of Ukraine Raisa Bohatyriova, economic development and trade minister of Ukraine Ihor Prasolov, chairman of the State Service for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship Development Mykhailo Brodsky and first deputy head of State Service of Ukraine on Medicines Inna Demchenko.

In addition, the discussion of drug imports to Ukraine was attended by representatives of such non-governmental organizations as the European Business Association, the Association of Innovative Medicines, heads of the Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies and president of the international public organization "Association of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers."

Hryshchenko noted that Ukrainian citizens must be provided with quality, safe and effective medicines.

"This is not a question of support of domestic producers or importers of medicines. The priority is the health of Ukrainians," he said, stressing that the government stands for high standards of medicines quality. "It is a top priority for us. At the same time, we must do all possible so there is no shortage in the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine," Hryshchenko said.

The vice Prime Minister instructed the healthcare minister and the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines to prepare a report on the amount of the stocks of medicines, vital for the population of Ukraine.
