The level of confidence of the Ukrainian people in the police has increased, interior minister of Ukraine Vitaliy Zakharchenko said, the Interior Ministry press office informs.

"The citizens have recently given an assessment of changes taking place in the Interior Ministry. We have to know the mood, expectations, and social needs about law enforcement agencies as all that influences the relationship between government and society. Specialists of the Kharkiv Institute for Social Research conducted the all-Ukrainian survey "Police in the eyes of citizens: assessment of the Interior Ministry work", attended by 15.000 respondents. Note: the national exit poll results of the parliamentary elections covered only one thousand respondents more," he said.

According to the chief police officer, the study showed that the level of confidence of the Ukrainian people in the police has increased. "Every four respondent testified that. Despite widespread negative stereotypes in society, the growth is significant. Data from previous studies of public opinion conducted by several sociological agencies recorded: the level of trust in law enforcement agencies has improved from 6.7% to almost 10%. According to the above, the police is one of three public institutions being trusted most. I note that these conclusions were also voiced at the meeting at the Interior Ministry and my signature on the survey evidences: we understand the problem and are willing to change to meet the expectations of citizens, to be open," Zakharchenko said.

The minister noted that the work of the European law enforcement agencies is assessed by the level of public trust. "We are ready to work on the same footing, so we deliberately do everything to change people's attitudes towards the police," he concluded.
