The Gazprom acts as a partner with regards to Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a press conference in Moscow.
"If we see that our Ukrainian partners face problems, some difficulties, the Gazprom provides the necessary loans, pay transit fees to create favorable conditions for the normal work of the Naftogaz of Ukraine. There are normal partner relations," Putin said.
He expects this work, though not easy, will continue.
According to him, the situation is complicated by the fact that the Gazprom goes directly to the markets of traditional customers in Europe.
"As for the gas issue, we have the long-term contract until 2019. No one questions its legitimacy. We work in the framework of this contract," the President of the Russian Federation said.
