This year, Ukraine has managed to maintain a stable epizootic situation, chairman of the state veterinary and phytosanitary service Volodymyr Horzheyev told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.

"This year, Ukraine has managed to maintain a stable epizootic situation ... First of all, I would like to mention such disease as tuberculosis. 15-20 years ago, there was a huge number of disadvantaged households regarding tuberculosis on the territory of Ukraine. Today we have only one in Kirovohrad region," he noted.

According to Horzheyev, the situation with leukemia of cattle has improved as well.

Today, the main task of Ukraine is to prevent entry into our territory of such highly dangerous animal diseases like foot and mouth disease, highly pathogenic avian influenza, peste des petits ruminants, Newcastle disease, classical swine fever, bluetongue, Schmallenberg virus and especially African swine fever.

In total, this year the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine has held 211.9 million examinations, and 564 companies were closed.
