On Sunday evening, an explosion in the 16-storey building on Moscow Avenue in Kharkiv killed four people, including two children of 2005 and 2001 years of birth, the press service of the Emergencies Ministry reported.
 
Eight people with injuries of varying severity were hospitalized.

The explosion destroyed separation walls between apartments and the outer wall of the building. Four apartments were destroyed with fire.
 
During the liquidation, 16 people were rescued, and 184 were evacuated. All residents of the house were temporarily resettled to relatives or in hotels.

According to the preliminary data, a gas cylinder caused the explosion.
 
168 people and 49 vehicles were involved in the rescue operation. A commission was formed at the scene of the explosion to establish the cause of the explosion and to provide victims with assistance.
