Ukraine has attracted 21 billion USD of investment funds in field of energy efficiency and renewable energy for the last two years, chairman of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency Mykola Pashkevych told a briefing before the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Due to the activation of energy efficiency projects implementation, the industry has managed to raise about 21 billion USD investment, including 5 billion USD only for the first half of 2012," the official has said.

According to him, about 4.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been saved thanks to such projects. "Over the past years, the use of alternative fuels has dynamically increased. The total capacity of renewable energy facilities for two years has increased four-fold. Throughout 2012 and the ten months of 2012 they have produced 995 million kilowatts of electricity per hour. In addition, 1.2 million tons of solid biofuel and 49 thousand tons of liquid biofuel have been produced for the mentioned period," Pashkevych informed.
