The European Parliament urged democratic parties of Ukraine not to cooperate with the All-Ukrainian Union Freedom (Svoboda).

MEP Kristian Vigenin (Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, Bulgaria) offered to include this recommendation in the draft resolution on the situation in Ukraine and received the support of most MPs.

Vigenin proposed to amend the text of resolution on Ukraine as follows: "The European Parliament is concerned about the popularization of nationalism in Ukraine, expressed in support of the Freedom party, which is one of two new parties entered in the Verkhovna Rada. Racist, anti-Semitic and xenophobic views contradict fundamental values and principles of the EU, therefore, we urge the pro-democratic parties in the Parliament not to communicate, not to support and not to form a coalition with this party".

Before voting, MEP from the People's Party group Michael Gahler also proposed to approve an amendment, containing calling for non-cooperation with the Communist Party as well, but more than 40 MPs voted against this amendment.
