The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 7th convocation has elected speaker, ForUm correspondent reports.
The candidacy of the MP from the Party of Regions Volodymyr Rybak has been supported by 250 MPs.
"I thank my colleagues for their support," the leader of the Party of Regions faction Oleksandr Yefremov said.
After that, the Party of Regions MPs have applauded and congratulated Rybak.
Rybak has taken the seat of the speaker instead of Yefremov and as promised to speak Ukrainian. "I will speak the national language only. I promise you," he said.
