The story is happening not somewhere in mountains, but in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.
For two days in a raw, it has been raining and snowing. In the result of double monthly norm of precipitation, we could observe this beauty.
However, for the people being late for work or a meeting on Tuesday morning this beauty did not make much difference.
"Vokzalna" metro station was especially hard to reach.
However, not only people, but also cars had to set sail.
Due to the potential threat to the economic facilities and city life as a result of heavy snowfall, the natural emergency situation is declared in Kyiv, head of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov said in his statement posted on the website of the KCSA to the people of Kyiv.
In addition, according to the head of the KCSA, the work of public services, mobilized units of the Emergencies Ministry, Defense Ministry, Interior Ministry, construction companies and industrial enterprises is organized 24 hours a day.
Nearly 700 rescuers and 166 pieces of equipment are involved in eliminating the consequences of bad weather in Kyiv and Kyiv region, the Emergencies Ministry press service informs.
In particular, 290 rescuers and 84 pieces of equipment, including 24 off-roaders are working in Kyiv region to eliminate the effects of adverse weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the health care institutions work in robust security regime. Thus, during the next days, the city will mobilize all available human and technical resources to combat the effects of bad weather," the statement said.
Due to bad weather conditions traffic was paralyzed from the morning. Traffic jams on December 11 rated 10 out of 10 points possible.
In this connection the police traffic department appealed to road-users to refrain from traveling unless absolutely necessary and do not violate the parking regulations to minimize obstacles to road services during the intensive cleaning the streets of snow.
Heavy traffic hit not only local roads, but the railroad as well. Snowfalls, blizzards and falling trees paralyzed the whole railroad. Traffic of passenger and local trains was delayed.
Airport "Kyiv" also had problems with traffic. Because of icy landing strip, the flights to Germany, Great Britain, Lviv, Simferopol and Odesa were postponed.
Ukrainian weather forecast center does not promise improvements. Ukraine still faces heavy snowfalls within the next days. Thus, ForUm recommends Ukrainians and guests to stock up on warm clothes and footwear.
