U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft refused to disclose the reason for refusal of U.S. visa for first deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin.

"I know why he was denied a visa, but I can not reveal the reason to you because of the severity of the American laws, which do not allow disclosing it," he said at the Forum of the U.S. Ambassador meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to Tefft, he has no right to voice the reason for denial, as this information should remain between a person and the visa center.

The ambassador also said that he is serious about the disclosure of such information.

Responding a question whether Kuzmin is the only Ukrainian official, refused a U.S. visa, Tefft said: "In this case, yes he is. Currently, there are no other high-ranking officials who have been refused a visa. There are other Ukrainians, who were refused visas in the past, but I will not raise the issue. There is no "black list" of Ukrainian officials".
