
Intensification of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and India will strengthen both countries, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview with the media in New Delhi, ForUm learned from the President’s press service.
"Intensification of our relations will strengthen both parties," he said, adding that the issue is "highly relevant" under the global economy. "For us it is very important as we need the markets and we need to create different branches and appropriate conditions to our businesses," Yanukovych said.
The President stressed that the Ukrainian-Indian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical, industrial and cultural cooperation, which resumed its work, will be an effective mechanism for further cooperation between the two countries. He added that the intergovernmental commission will also consider expanding the legal framework between the countries.
Speaking of his state visit to India, Yanukovych said that during the talks the parties reached an agreement on a significant intensification of contacts at the highest level. He recalled that he had invited Prime Minister of India to visit Ukraine, and also plans to offer an invitation to the President of India.
In addition, Yanukovych noted the importance of joint business forums as an effective tool to increase investment activity and the establishment of contacts between the two countries.
