Ukraine considers India as one of the most important partners in South Asia, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said during the meeting with Indian foreign minister Salman Khurshid in New Delhi on Monday.
"We are ready to work together with you to find common interests in those spheres of economy, which are traditionally strong for us," the President said. He added that he would like to hear India's proposals on cooperation in the spheres that are interesting to it.
Yanukovych noted that Ukraine appreciates cooperation with India within international organizations, especially in the United Nations.
Yanukovych expressed hope that the mutual desire of Ukraine and India to deepen effective cooperation will continue ensuring the development of relations between the two countries. In this context, the President stressed the importance of the active political dialogue at the highest level. He drew attention to the effective working dialogue between the foreign ministries of Ukraine and India.
In turn, foreign minister stressed the importance of the state visit of the President Yanukovych to India. He stressed that today Ukraine and India have a lot of issues for discussion. "I would like to hear your suggestions regarding our further relations, how we can strengthen our friendship and expand economic cooperation in order to raise it to a higher level," Salman Khurshid said.
He stressed the need for intensive political dialogue between the countries at the highest level.
