Head of the main investigation department of the Internal Ministry of Ukraine Vasyl Farynnyk assured that in spite of the entry of new Criminal Procedure Code into force, Ukrainian police will continue to comply clear with the legal requirements regulating procedural detention of citizens, he said during a video conference at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the press service of the Interior Ministry reports.

Farynnyk noted that article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code stipulates procedural detention of citizens for an unlawful act without a decision of the investigating judge.

According to him, such detention is possible only if a man is caught committing a crime or under an attempt to commit, and if a witness, including a victim, or a combination of obvious symptoms on the body, clothes or place of incidents indicate that this person has committed a crime immediately after its commission.

"Law-abiding citizens have nothing to fear. A person, who does not commit acts that are violations under the law, does not need to have passport all the time," head of the main investigation department of the Internal Ministry noted.
