On December 9-12, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will pay a state visit to the Republic of India, the press service of the head of state reports.

According to head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Serhiy Lyovochkin, an urgency of the visit is caused by necessity to ensure further development of relations with the countries of South Asia, which is important direction of the Ukrainian foreign policy. 

During the meeting, the head of the Ukrainian state will hold a range of meetings, in particular, with President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh, vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari and foreign minister of India Salman Khurshid. 

The President of Ukraine intends to discuss a number of issues concerning the Ukrainian- Indian cooperation, primarily, in trade-economic, scientific and technical, investment, cultural and humanitarian areas. 

In accordance with the program of the visit, the President of Ukraine will take part in work of the Ukrainian-Indian forum. This event will promote development of contacts among business circles of Ukraine and India and realization of mutually beneficial business projects. 

As a result of the visit, an announcement of the joint statement of the heads of the states is planned, as well as signing of the bilateral documents, in particular, concerning the mutual legal assistance and cooperation in scientific and technical, nuclear security and health care areas.

“The state visit of the President of Ukraine to India will not only promote renewal of contacts at the highest level, but will also give an impetus to deepen the bilateral political dialogue and expand the mutually beneficial cooperation with India,“ Lyovochkin summed up.
