Head of the Parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn has thanked all his friends and foes for their work, ForUm correspondent reports.

During the last speech in status of the head of the Verkhovna Rada, Lytvyn noted that "there will be no doomsday, but there will be the New Year and the new Parliament."

Talking about the Verkhovna Rada of the sixth convocation, Lytvyn said: "The last Parliament is a purchase of the history. It has left positive results and obvious failures, conflicts, scandalous incidents and low public ratings. There were both external and internal reasons for such results."

Lytvyn also said that he, as head of the Verkhovna Rada, has always restrained himself, and now he has a right to say everything he wants. "Ukrainian deputies have very interesting anomaly, which almost never occurs in the Western Parliaments, and they do not respect either their voters or colleagues," he noted.

The speaker underlined that Ukrainian deputies need to change an approach to their work and resume a parliamentary system.
