The difficult economic situation in the world demands intensified trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Turkmenistan, President Viktor Yanukovych said at the meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov in Ashgabat, the President’s press service informs.
Yanukovych said that the conclusion of the FTA agreement will contribute to this objective.
The head of the Ukrainian state, in particular, noted that all the existing agreements between the parties are now in the implementation stage. The work of the Joint Ukrainian-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation also contributes to positive dynamics of bilateral relations. Yanukovych drew attention to the possibility of increasing trade turnover between the two countries.
Berdymukhamedov invited Yanukovych to visit Turkmenistan. Ukrainian President accepted the invitation. He also stressed that Ukraine and Turkmenistan is prepared to sign a number of documents to address "a number of bilateral issues, responding to the current challenges."
