Ukrainian foreign minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko discussed prospects for the bilateral cooperation with some senators during his visit to the United States, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported. 

On November 30, head of the Ministry met with chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Richard Lugar. They discussed the bilateral relations and topical issues of the international security. The U.S. senator assured that the U.S. is interested in a strong and prosperous Ukraine, which is considered as a friend and strategic partner.

On the same day, Hryshchenko met with a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe Chris Smith. The parties spoke about the Ukrainian-American cooperation in the field of combating human trafficking. The FM head noted that Ukraine will actively use its chairmanship of the OSCE in 2013 to combat this global challenge. 

Hryshchenko visited the U.S. on November 30 - December 1 in order to participate in the international conference "Ukraine in Washington-2012" on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the referendum on the independence of the Ukrainian state. The event, which is held for the second time in Washington, was organized by the Ukraine - USA Fund with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine.
