Ukraine's course towards European integration remains unchanged, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said after the meeting with the foreign minister of Norway E.Eyde, the Cabinet’s press service informs.

"We have initialed the Association Agreement, including free trade area with the EU. We are ready to move on. Now it is up to the European Union. If they want to see Ukraine as the future member of the European community, they need to move forward on the Agreement’s ratification," Mykola Azarov said.

At the same time, the Prime Minister assured that Ukraine is aware that at the beginning our country needs to make a lot of serious changes in order to have a good reason for applying for EU membership.

"We understand that we need to be ready to join, so we have set for ourselves a major program of reforms in the economy, the legal system, human rights and democracy, the development of civil society. We will carry out this program and achieve the standards, have been adopted in the EU," Mykola Azarov said.

At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine is deeply concerned with the current state of the EU and the economy of the euro-zone states, as these countries are among the largest trading partners, and therefore the decline in euro-zone affects Ukraine.

Therefore, Mykola Azarov emphasized that Ukraine is interested in quick overcoming the crisis in the euro-zone.
