In Ukraine, there is full access to HIV / AIDS post-exposure prophylaxis for the injured people, head of the State Service for Social Diseases Tetyana Alexandrina told a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Post-exposure prophylaxis is carried out regardless of whether a person will have a positive status in the future or not. If a person applies to the AIDS center within 48 hours, he shall be provided with medical assistance. First, a person is tested to find out a status, and then a post-exposure prophylaxis is prescribed," she said.

However, there is no clear statistics for applications after risk accidents, such as jab or unprotected sex. "I would say that not many apply, around 70-80 people," she said.

Responding a question by ForUm correspondent whether such a low statistics is caused by poor awareness of citizens about their right to receive such assistance, the expert said: "People know it, we inform people about it. In addition, people may get familiar with their rights on our website".
