The Ukrainian government started negotiations on joining the agreement on government procurement, which will provide domestic producers with access to the WTO government procurement market, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said at the Cabinet’s meeting, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We have started talks about improving the conditions of joining the sectoral agreements to increase the level of protection for our domestic market. Although it has drawn criticism from importers, a flurry in media, we believe our priorities are right - jobs in Ukraine are more important," Azarov said.

The Prime Minister also said that the government is working out new mechanisms to support small business, set for investment in job creation and also considers important to implement the law on public-private partnership. "This opens up for private entrepreneurs access to traditionally profitable projects and industries, which until recently have been under the exclusive control of the state," he stressed.
