The Foreign Ministry said that the introduction of visa-free regime for the citizens of Ukraine depends on political decision of the European Union, the FM spokesman Oleh Voloshyn said on air of the 5 channel on November 26.

"We have an unfulfilled homework: not introduced biometric passports, integrated system for the border ... Unfortunately, the European Union has reserved the right to take a political decision after the full range of homework is done," he said responding the question whether the introduction of visa-free travel depends only on Ukraine's implementation of the necessary procedures and technical issues.

In this regard, he said, the opposition and the government should have a common position for the EU not to have motives for taking a negative decision.

"We should unanimously, starting from the Minister and ending with Mr. Nemyria (former vice Prime Minister), go to the EU and say: "You can punish anyone in this country, but make the visa regime for ordinary Ukrainians," he said.

Voloshyn emphasized that the government and opposition MPs have diplomatic passports. Thus, according to him, only citizens need visa-free regime.
