In the framework of the official visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych in the UAE, a ceremony on signing of bilateral documents was held.
As the press service of the head of state reports, the parties signed treaties on mutual legal assistance in criminal, civil and commercial issues.
The agreement between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters provides for a legal basis for effective cooperation of the competent authorities of both states on criminal matters. The treaty defines a mechanism of interaction courts, prosecution and other competent bodies of Ukraine and the UAE to prevent and investigate crimes and implementation of measures for the confiscation of property and proceeds of crime.
The signing of the agreement between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates on mutual legal assistance in civil and commercial matters will create an effective intergovernmental mechanism of legal protection of the parties, providing an opportunity to apply to court or other competent authorities of Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates, bring proceedings and defend its rights and interests in civil cases.
The agreement between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates on extradition of criminals justifies a cooperation of the competent authorities of Ukraine and the UAE for the purpose of criminal prosecution or enforcement against those who are trying to evade responsibility for their crimes and stay on the territory of one of the states.
