Ukraine has launched the national LNG-terminal project.

As ForUm correspondent reports, during the ceremony, the bilateral documents to start construction of LNG-terminal have been signed during a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

In particular, the Agreement on cooperation between the State Agency for Investment and National Projects of Ukraine and the Excelerate Energy LLC (USA) was signed by the head of the State Agency Vladyslav Kaskiv and Senior Vice of the Excelerate Energy LLC President Edward Scott.

There have been also signed the Agreement on cooperation between the State Agency for Investment and National Projects of Ukraine and the GAS Natural SDG, S.A. (Spain) by Vladuslav Kaskiv and Director General for External Relations of the GAS Natural Jordi Garcia Tabernero.

In addition, the event has been attended by the coal industry minister Yuri Boiko, ambassadors of the U.S., Turkey, Azerbaijan, Spain, Korea, and representatives of foreign investors of the Naftogaz, Ukrtransgaz gas companies and others.

The project will be implemented in several phases. First, the floating unit for storage and regasification with capacity up to 5 5 billion cubic meters per year is to be built.

The second phase provides for building ground terminal with two tanks, the third – building tank and additional equipment necessary to bring the capacity of the terminal to 10 billion cubic meters.

Moreover, a branch of the pipeline is to be built to connect the terminal to the gas transportation system.

The liquefied gas is to be transported from Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Qatar and Azerbaijan.

Bulding itself is to be carried out in two stages:

The first stage is the construction of a gas pipeline DU-1000 mm with length of 42 km. The implementation of the stage will allow receiving up to 5 billion cubic meters gas volume from the LNG-terminal.

The second stage is the construction of the pipeline DU-1000 mm with length of 23 km, which will allow obtaining up to 13.35 billion cubic meters from the LNG-terminal. Construction of the pipeline will be carried out by the Ukrtransgaz company, namely by the Ukrgazprombud construction and installation company.

Total length of the pipeline will be 65 kilometers, diameter - 1000 mm, the construction cost will be 856 million euros. Project implementation period is 2011-2017. Construction of the terminal will be financed by a public-private partnership.

The total volume of the tanks will allow storing 540 thousand cubic meters of liquefied gas.
