Famine-Genocide (Holodomor) has become one of the most difficult trials endured by Ukraine. It killed people not only physically, but had to call obedience and fear, statement of the President of Ukraine on the Day of memory of Holodomor victims said
"This crime has changed forever a course of history of the Ukrainian people," the statement published on the official website of the President noted.
The disaster came to our land eighty years ago. For decades we were forbidden even to mention these terrible events.
"But the Ukrainian people found a resistance and survived due to the faith in their strength, love for Ukraine and aspiration for freedom and independence," he said.
"Our duty is to carry in our hearts the memory of those terrible events. We must do everything possible to prevent such tragedies in the future," the President stressed.
