Ukrainian legislation on combating family violence will be reviewed, deputy social policy minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kolomiets told a press conference "Freedom from violence: let’s act together", ForUm correspondent reports.

The deputy minister added that the number of families to be covered by the new law should be increased. Such families, he said, could include former spouses, living together. In addition, changes have to touch bodies, responsible for combating family violence.

Kolomiets added that to this end, the Social Policy Ministry and the International Charity Fund "Ukrainian Fund for Public Health" in collaboration with the concerned central authorities and NGOs are developing a legal act, which will be a mechanism to provide effective and timely assistance to the family violence victims.

In turn, the head of the public security department of the Interior Ministry Yuri Lubensky said his profile department is also actively involved in the development of the bill and expressed hope that the new regulation will be more effective and useful.
