As of today, 20 thousand people Kyiv citizens benefited from state discounts for antihypertensives, chief of the healthcare department of the Kyiv City State Administration Vitaly Mokhorev told a press conference "Hypertension: risk, treatment, cut in drugs prices", ForUm correspondent reports.
"According to our data, more than 20 thousand people took advantage of this opportunity. Utility pharmacies discharged 20 thousand recipes. Now they provide the first list of served patients, which would allow making real reimbursement to pharmacies," he said.
According to him, the introduction of the state project for cut in antihypertensives prices has allowed patients to buy the necessary drugs for 30% off the retail price.
Mokhorev reported that 40 million UAH, including 2.5 million UAH for Kyiv, has been provided for in the state budget for November and December. "This project is a pilot to the end of the year, but from the beginning of next year it will operate on a continuous basis," the official informed.
He also noted that in 2013, the issue of implementation a similar program of preferential drugs prices not only for hypertensive patients, but for patients with diabetes will be considered.
