Dialog between Ukraine and Russia on gas is significantly different from that one month ago, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov said.

"The dialogue continues. And it seems to me, at this stage its content is very different from what it was a month ago," he told journalists in Kyiv on Thursday after laying flowers at the grave of Petr Stolypin.

Answering the question of how the new composition of the Verkhovna Rada may influence activation of the gas dialogue between Ukraine and Russia, the ambassador said: "I do not think that the Parliament can somehow influence the activation of energy dialogue. I assume the following: if the Russian Federation and Ukraine come to an agreement in this area, the Party of Regions in the Verkhovna Rada is enough to support this decision".

In addition, he said that during the visit of Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov to Moscow he and his Russian colleague Dmitri Medvedev seriously discussed energy issues.

"One of the topics being discussed during negotiations was the topic related to the obligations of Ukraine to buy a certain amount of Russian gas... Today we expect Ukraine gas imports to be somewhere around 27-28 bcm," Zurabov said.
